I really like what the Apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the church at Phillippi, “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel…(1:3-5)” That is exactly the way I feel! I thank God for each and every one of you. I remember you for your service and ministry. I remember you for your hugs and smiles! I remember you as I see you worshipping God! Like Paul, I pray with joy because of our partnership in this work of God. Being a Christian and serving Christ with you is truly a wonderful and happy experience. Thank you so much for the privilege of being your pastor and being partners in the work of God.
the transition Team continues to meet. Our focus now is on “making the transition happen”! I hope you have noticed some of the wonderful things that are taking place. The name tags and Welcome Wagon have made a huge difference in the spirit of the church. Visitation has been well attended and we have seen obvious results from the visits. I believe there is a greater desire to grow both spiritually and numerically. Have you noticed the increased attendance in Sunday School. A new Sunday School class was started for middle age men. On March 26th we will have a “Spring Fling” for all of our visitors. All Visitors will be invited to a luncheon after church just after noon. We are compiling a list of our guests. We will need members to bring the food.
The team also discussed building needs. We believe that most of our buildings are in need! Some need a touch-up! Some need repair. Some need major repair and renovation. We have established the following Priorities:
- Completion of the new building. There will be some painting and installing baseboards. We do nee to decorate the walls to make the rooms look cozy and inviting. We would prefer that when pictures are put up, that holes no be drilled in the walls.
- Beautifying the fellowship hall. The bathrooms need major overhaul! Paint the F.H. a lighter color! We do want appropriate pictures and scriptures on the walls. there is talk of expanding the F.H.
- Building a Foyer in front of the Sanctuary. There is a “bottleneck” at the front door. We need a foyer so people can converse. We also want to build a restroom so people won’t disturb the spirit of worship.
Many have expressed our need for a new Sanctuary. The excitement is great, but a new sanctuary is not feasible (my opinion) at this time. If God continues to bless us with growth and unity and we consistently HONOR GOD, God will reveal His will to us. Let’s do Worship, Fellowship, Evangelism, Discipleship and Ministry. Let’s do all of them really well and see what God will do! Also, we must realize that to build a new sanctuary, God will have to provide “Big Bucks”!
Perhaps our greatest need as a church is a Youth Pastor. Most youth are aimless and lost. We must reach them. One of the best ways to reach them is with contemporary music. It would be beneficial to find someone who can play guitar or play keyboard. He should be a man of God. Please PRAY.
May God bless you and make His face to shine upon you.
